ESi Acquires Full Service Railroad Consulting, Inc.

ATLANTA, GA - JUN 15, 2017 - ESi today announces the acquisition of Full Service Railroad Consulting, Inc. (FSR).  This transaction rounds out ESi’s comprehensive rail services to clients around the globe and creates a strong partner for companies who need focused rail expertise delivered by experienced, qualified professionals.

“It can be critically important to understand the specific operational, financial and regulatory challenges faced by companies in the rail industry,” said Phil Daum, ESi Principal and one of ESi’s leading rail experts. “With the addition of FSR, ESi clients will have a single place to get the rail services they need – whether it’s day-to-day operational support or rapid response to a high-profile incident or accident.”

As part of the acquisition, Foster Peterson, former Principal of FSR, will join ESi’s Atlanta office as a Senior Managing Consultant. Mr. Peterson brings a wealth of experience related to railroad operations, including expertise in railroad safety, rules, and operating practices. Combined with his practical experience in derailment investigation, ESi clients will gain access to some of the most advanced thinking and services in the rail industry - enabling them to improve their proactive posture and provide more effective response in the event of a catastrophe.

“I am excited to be part of ESi’s strong and dedicated team as we bring together two companies with complementary reputations and values,” said Mr. Peterson. “Full Service Rail has always focused on helping its clients navigate today’s complex risk landscape. By joining forces with ESi, we will have the scale and platform to satisfy the growing need for end-to-end technical consulting services provided by professionals with deep experience in the industry.”

In addition to his consulting role with ESi, Mr. Peterson serves as Director of Safety & Operating Practices and a Designated Supervisor of Locomotive Engineers for the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum, Inc.’s passenger and freight railroad operating subsidiaries. Mr. Peterson is also certified as a locomotive engineer and conductor.

“ESi is committed to delivering the highest possible standard of technical services to its railroad clients and is backing its commitment with strategic investments,” said Hans Iwand, ESi Principal and Director of our Laboratory and Industrial Services. “Bringing the FSR expertise in-house represents a significant opportunity for both our companies to raise the technical services in our railroad practice to the next level.  Together, we will be able to cover most aspects of railroad requirements as a one-stop shop."
